I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions, but with my departure date for Korea nearing, I figured it would be good to have some goals for myself for this year…
Goals for 2010:
• Stay Positive: there may be a lot of changes and challenges in store for me in 2010… I think the only way to deal with what comes my way is to keep a positive attitude and think positively about whatever situation I may find myself in.
• Get Fit: with a change in environment and lifestyle I want to be more physically active and stay healthy
• Be adventurous in the new food I try
• Run a 10k
• Make a genuine attempt at learning the Korean language
• Observe and try to participate in Korean culture
• Make new friends in unusual places
• Travel to places who’s name I don’t even know or can’t pronounce
• Eat sushi in Japan
• See and smell cherry blossoms in the spring
• Learn to meditate in a Buddhist temple
• Say yes to new opportunities even when they’re outside of my comfort zone
• Forget my limitations
• Payoff a substantial part of my credit card debt
• Read at least 2 books a month: 1 being a “classic” that I probably should have read while in school

Good luck in the new year and living in Busan. Ilook forward to reading about your time out there.
ReplyDeletePrint your list out and stick it up on the wall.
ReplyDeleteI'd be curious how your attempt to learn Korean goes. It's surprisingly hard to find good opportunities that are affordable, but they're out there.
I'm thinking about trying to create a "Learn Korean Without Going to Class" book, but I'm still trying to map out how to proceed.
